Atrazine, the United States’ second most…

Atrazine, the United States’ second most widely used toxic, endocrine-disrupting herbicide behind glyphosate, was banned in the EU in 2003. The same year, the U.S. EPA re-approved the chemical’s use as a favor to the agrichemical industry, using only industry studies as evidence of its safety. Of course, we all know industry studies are nothing but expensive exercises in junk science to fool the public. But the state of California has been working to list atrazine as toxic to the reproductive system under the state’s Proposition 65, which requires public warnings to be posted when and where such chemicals are used. Now, a court decision coming as soon as January will determine how the state will move forward with the listing. We say: Don’t just put up warnings. BAN the stuff.
